What we do

Watoto Watch Network (WWN)

is a child focused non-profit organization that is taking the lead in raising awareness on Child Online Protection by implementing informative and sensitization programs on internet safety. We work directly with children and young people, between the ages of 6 and 18years, on a weekly basis, as well as parents, teachers and professionals.

Our program aims to raise alertness on how to be safe online while promoting positive internet use and experiences. Watoto Watch Network was founded in 2013.

Our Mission.

Create a safer, more secure online environment for children and young people.

Annual Child Online Safety Awareness

Watoto Watch Network is dedicated to ensuring children’s online safety through comprehensive education and awareness programs. Our day to day is training students and teachers on navigating the digital world safely.

Additionally, we provide training for parents to help them understand and manage online risks for their children. We also educate law enforcement officers on the latest digital threats to enhance their ability to protect children from online predators.

By engaging stakeholders in the ICT industry, including tech companies and policymakers, we advocate for child-friendly policies and technologies. Together, we aim to build a safer online community for our children.

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day (SID) is a day set aside Globally to promote safer and more responsible use of the internet/online technology and computer devices. Since 2014, under the coordination of Watoto Watch Network, in Kenya, the day has seen success and growth in active participants from 4 institutions (2014) to 56 institutions in 2024.

Safer Internet Day is celebrated in approximately 180 countries and territories worldwide. This year is Kenya’s 11th Edition of commemorating Safer Internet Day. The Safer Internet Day slogan is “Together for a better internet” which encourages everyone to join the movement, to participate, and to make the most of the internet’s potential to bring people together.

The campaign aims to reach out to children and young people, parents and careers, teachers, educators and social workers, as well as industry, decision-makers and politicians, to encourage everyone to play their part in creating a better internet. Join us in commemorating SID 2025!

Digital Rights and Data Protection

Research and experience have repeatedly shown that keeping children safe from harm requires school administration and child protection agencies to record, analyze and understand the significance of the information they have about them.

In Kenya, the right to privacy to children is found in the Data Protection Act and The Children’s Act 2022 that guarantees every child’s right to equal protection and equal benefit of the law. We seek to enhance the capacities of School Administrators and Child Protection partners in the country so as to enable them to promote Digital rights and ensure data protection of children.

This can help to make the learning experience more interactive and memorable, which can lead to greater retention of information.

Theater performances helps students develop important skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking. Theater performances also helps to break the monotony of traditional classroom teaching and make it more interesting for students.
